Nate Finch, son of a Vidalia Onion farmer, lives in Paris where he manages the European office of Madeleine Tours. Divorced, he’s still hopelessly in love with his ex-wife, with whom it owns the tour company. The mysterious death of an ex-lover in a fall from the Eiffel Tower and the unexpected appearance of her younger sister Clair draws Nate into a vortex of intrigue and murder culminating in a desperate struggle for survival at the hands of an polished criminal-for-hire.
With plot elements reminiscent of The Purloined Letter and the tale of the Trojan Horse from Homer’s Iliad, Nate and Clair are enlisted against their wills to aid the FBI in apprehending Hans Ulbricht, an international trader and arms dealer whom they suspect is attempting to smuggle two immensely valuable stolen works of art into the United States. The FBI agents have their own agenda but so does Ulbricht, and as the story progresses, the line between truth and cleverly crafted lies becomes increasing blurred.
Moving from the elegance of Parisian cafes to Savannah, across south Georgia and finally to Atlanta, the each opponent’s plan is carefully played out in a deadly and complex plot that leaves the reader unsure of the outcome until the final page. Paralleling this all is the backstory of Nate and Clair, two wounded souls whose lives are forever changed by fate. It’s a great read!

Our worst national security nightmare mixed with cutting edge technology---that's The Tate Revenge. Bill Rawlings is onto something.

Author of The Third Secret “I see William Rawlings as a Twenty-First Century Renaissance Man. He's a successful physician, business man, historian and now first rate novelist. The Tate Revenge, his third novel, only re-enforces my perception of this well rounded writer. Rawlings took me from the Eiffel Tower and the streets of Paris to the growing fields of the Sweet Vidalia Onions in Southeast Georgia and the port of Savannah with a story that had me guessing about its ending all along the way. This hard hitting story is combined with an impressive knowledge of everything from French food, art and antiques to the inner workings of international trade resulting in a real modern day thriller. In the coming years, William Rawlings will be the guy to watch on the literary landscape.

From the onion fields of southeast Georgia through Atlanta to Paris and back, William Rawlings’s new novel The Tate Revenge reminds you of Terry Kay and Pat Conroy. This must-read novel is Rawlings’s best one yet.
